Knott Co. school bus involved in crash

Q95 News has confirmed with Knott County school officials that a bus was involved in an accident Tuesday morning on Route 7 near Kite.

Knott County school transportation director Brent Hoover spoke with Q95 News, stating that a Knott County school bus was traveling south on Route 7 Tuesday morning when it was struck on its side by a Chevy Silverado truck traveling north on the same road. Thirty-three students were on the bus at the time of the accident. Hoover explained that the driver of the bus attempted to avoid the truck and traveled over an embankment.

Seven students were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two students were transported by ambulance and five other were transported by parents.

Matthew Fugate with the Knott County sheriff's office spoke with Q95 News, saying that the driver of the Silverado was not injured in the accident and that no charges are likely to be filed in connection with the accident.
