Mine Rescue Competition set to begin at Bob Amos Park
Mine and Rescue teams from across the country are expected to participate in the Hatfield-McCoy Mine Rescue Safety Competition July 16-18 at Bob Amos Park in Pikeville. The event evaluates skills of rescue teams on a simulated course. The Mine Safety and Health Administrative office of Pikeville reported over thirty teams from various states had pre-registered for the event. Pikeville city officials met with MSHA officials and decided to rename the event in remembrance of the regions Hatfield-McCoy feud history.
