An Eastern Kentucky man is sentenced in connection with a crash that killed a passenger

Erick Blair was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday in Lawrence Circuit Court after pleading guilty to 2nd degree manslaughter and 2nd degree assault., The accident took place in May of 2012 near Fallsburg. Prosecutors said Blair lost control of his vehicle in a turn and hit an embankment head-on. Benjamin Burchett died in the crash. Police said no one in the SUV was wearing safety belts and that alcohol and drugs contributed to the crash. Blair was originally charged with murder. Wsaz is reporting that Blair pleaded guilty to reduced charges of 2nd degree manslaughter and 2nd degree assault.
