Several Floyd County races grow in final day before deadline

The race for Floyd County Judge Executive saw one new entry in the final hours before a filing deadline on Tuesday. Kent Rose of Prestonsburg filed the required paperwork to seek the position. Rose is the fourth candidate to enter the race and will face off with Bennie M. Lafferty of Banner, Michael J. Pennington of East Point and Ben Hale of Blue River. Current Judge Executive RD "Doc" Marshall did not file to seek re-election. The race for for Floyd County Jailer has grown, with the entry of Jerry Case of Garrett. Case will face off with Dale Johnson of Prestonsburg, Cheyenne McKinney of Allen, Lowell "Dougie" Marcum of Allen, Lowell Samons Jr of Banner, Stan Lee of Martin, Stuart "Bear" Halbert of Martin and Lance Allen Hall of Minnie. Two more names were added to the ballot in the race for Floyd County Sheriff, including Ronald W. Blackburn of Drift and Burnett Little of Bevinsville. The two will face off with James "Brandon" Spencer, Darren Lawson, Steve Little and John Hunt in the May primary. Republican Joey Collins will challenge the Democratic winner in November.
