Floyd County jobless numbers improve in December

A recent report released by the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training shows an improvement in Floyd County's unemployment rate for the month of December. The county rate stood at 10.9 percent which was an improvement from the 11.4 percent in November. Statewide, the unemployment figure was reported to be 7.4 percent, which was also an improvement from 7.8 percent in November. Leslie County and Magoffin County showed the states highest unemployment numbers at 15.7 and 15.6 percent. Knott County had the fifth highest rate in the state at 13.7 percent. Johnson County continued to post the best unemployment numbers in the region, coming in at 9.3 percent in December.
