Beshear hires eastern Kentucky law firm as council in gay marriage appeal

dir="rtl">Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has hired an Ashland law firm to represent him in appealing a judge's decision that would require Kentucky to recognize same-sex marriages. Beshear said the state reached the deal with the law firm of VanAntwerp, Monge, Jones, Edwards & McCann. The group will handle the appeal of a decision to overturn parts of a 2004 state constitutional amendment that barred recognition of same sex marriages performed in other states.
