Coal Truck colides with tanker near Louisa on US 23

Crews worked for several hours on Monday in an effort to clean up a coal spill on US 23 in Lawrence County. Officials say a coal truck and a tanker collided at the intersection of US 23 and North Ky Highway 3 near Louisa. The driver of the coal truck apparently swerved to avoid hitting two vehicles that he witnessed pulling into the intersection from Route 3. The driver told WSAZ that he intentionally put the truck on it's side to avoid hitting the cars. The truck slid into a tanker after turning over. The drivers of the trucks were not injured. Two people inside nearby vehicles were taken to the hospital with what was described as minor injuries.
