University of Pikeville Recieves $2.2 Million Dollar Grant

The University of Pikeville has been awarded $2.2 million dollars towards a center for student success. As part of the Title II Strengthening Institutions Program, the US Department of Education has given UPike the grant to create a center for students with a centralized approach to advising, tracking and supporting first year students.  By building a new center for students, UPike will be able to build on its student support network.

UPike President, James Hurley states that they are eager to expand the services already offered to their first year students. Hurley also says that UPike will continue to enhance their efforts to improve retention and persistence, and ultimately graduate more students. UPike has enrolled two thousand four hundred students this semester, a record number for the university.
