Allen Central High School volleyball team captures 15th region All-A title

September 6, 2013

The Allen Central High School volleyball team will represent the 15th region yet again in the state All-A volleyball tournament.. The Lady Rebels defeated Pikeville to claim the title.

This marks the 7th time in the past 8 years that the Lady Rebels have won the tournament. They will travel to the state tournament held at the Mid-America Volleyball Center in Jeffersontown, where they will face the region 3 winner.

Pool play begins on September 14th.

Prestonsburg to open season with military appreciation night

August 22, 2013

The Prestonsburg Blackcats will open the 2013 high school football season on Friday with a special military appreciation night as they take on the Pikeville Panthers. The team, is planning to wear all camo uniforms and to sell the jerseys after the game. The proceeds form the jerseys will be donated to the Wounded Warrior project. Any present or past military member as well as their families will be admitted free on Friday. A special pre-game ceremony is planned at 7:10 pm. Military members will be asked to register at the admission gate and will be recognized before the game. Hear all the action live on Q95 with Rick Hughes and Don Compton., Pregame is set for 7:15 pm

Prestonsburg will host four team scrimmage on Friday August 16th

August 5, 2013

The 2013 High School Football season will officially open on Friday August 16th, but area schools will get an early taste of action on August 16th. The Prestonsburg Blackcats will serve as host for a four team scrimmage beginning at 6pm. Prestonsburg, Boyd County, Letcher Central and Breathitt County will participate in the four team affair. The regular season for Prestonsburg will kickoff on Friday the 23rd as the Blackcats host Pikeville on Military Appreciation night at Blackcat Stadium. Kickoff for the season opener is set for 7:30 pm

Prestonsburg returns to gridiron as new season draws near

The Prestonsburg Blackcats returned to the practice field this week in preparation for the upcoming 2013 season. The Blackcats coached by veteran head coach John Derossett ,enter 2013 looking for a repeat of last seasons district title. Prestonsburg returns several skill position players on the offensive side of the football. A rebuilding defense is the key to a successful season for the Blackcats.,
