Democrat Andy Beshear was able to rally supporters and secure the Attorney General’s office. Beshear is the son of current governor Steve Beshear, and was able to outpace his opponent Whitney Westerfield by a narrow margin. The unofficial results from the Kentucky board of elections show that Beshear was only able to best his opponent by about 2-thousand votes, or 0.2 percent.
