New details have been released in a shooting incident in Knott County from November 6, 2017. Zachary Tyler Caudill, 26, was driving a reportedly stolen pickup truck in a chase with law enforcement personnel. The pursuit ended on an old coal mine haul road in the Raven community of Knott County. Officers advise that Caudill exited the truck and ignored their commands for him to show his hands and get on the ground. They further advised that he made an aggressive movement toward his waistband, as if to retrieve a weapon, at which time they fired their issued firearms, striking him once in the leg. Investigators are awaiting the release of Caudill from Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital in order to lodge him in Kentucky River Regional Jail.
