The first of five job fairs took place in Prestonsburg on Monday at Big Sandy Community and Technical College, trying to find workers to staff the reopening of the Southeast State Correctional Complex in Wheelwright in Floyd County.

The first step in the process is an application and background check. The next step for some will be a formal interview and drug screen. A variety of positions within the facility are up for grabs. Starting pay is $30,000 a year.

Officials hope to have workers in place and the prison ready to reopen sometime during the first part of 2020.
