The Middlesboro Police Department arrested a man on charges of stalking and driving under the influence Wednesday night.

Officers arrested Michael Bowen on Airport Road off KY 74 just before midnight. An off-duty police officer said Bowen’s vehicle followed him home and parked nearby.

When law enforcement approached Bowen’s car, they discovered Bowen showed signs of being under the influence. When asked to step out of the car, he tossed a bag out of the car. Police suspect the bag contained meth.

Officers also found multiple loaded guns inside the vehicle.

Once placed under arrest, Bowen became aggressive, cursing and screaming. When brought into the station he refused to take a blood test and said he had used meth before. He also refused a lawyer.

Bowen is now facing four charges including first-degree stalking, first-degree possession of meth, tampering with physical evidence, and second-degree disorderly conduct.

According to a previous complaint from April 2019, Bowen left a threatening Post-It note on a woman’s car. It read: “[Victim’s name] when I catch you or see you out your [expletive] is mine.” Police said Bowen signed his name on the note. He is also accused of driving his motorcycle by the victim’s home and revving the motor.

He was additionally charged with harassment. Bowen is in the Bell County Detention Center on a $25,000.
