Laurel County man arrested in ongoing meth investigation

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested Heath B. Coomes, 41, of Owensboro Thursday morning at about 11:26 a.m.

The arrest happened after an investigation by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office led to the discovery of a large quantity of meth in a motel room rented by Coomes in southern Laurel County.

Several needles, both used and new, were also discovered in the motel room.

He had earlier been arrested by Laurel Sheriff’s Officials and sent to the Laurel County correctional center.

After the follow-up investigation, Coomes was charged additionally with possession of a controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
