During his 4 p.m. update on Thursday, Jan. 7 Gov. Beshear reported 4,911 new cases of COVID-19. This bring’s Kentucky’s total cases to 291,430, with 233,472 of those cases being lab confirmed where as 57,958 remain probable.

Thirty-seven new deaths were reported Thursday. To see a list of those reported lost to the virus today, click here.

This makes a total of 2,843 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though 200 of those are probable and only 2,843 are lab confirmed.

A total of 3,565,044 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 3,268,056 were PCR Test, 103,031 were serology test, and 193,957 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 11.93%.

Currently 1,744 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 424 in the ICU and 217 on a ventilator.

Top counties with the most positive cases Thursday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Warren, Kenton, Morgan and Boone. Each of these counties reported 150 or more new cases; Jefferson County alone reported 683.

On a positive note, at least 38,173 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
