A woman is dead and a Lexington Police officer is seriously wounded after a car accident on New Circle road Monday morning around 1:30 am. Police say a vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of the road and collided with a police cruiser. Police do not believe the officer was a part of the investigation to find this vehicle. The fire department had to be called to remove both drivers from the vehicles following the crash. The officer was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and the other driver was pronounced dead. The identities of the victims have not been released.
