Grave Robbers Arrested in Pike County

A Pike County man and woman have been arrested for allegedly stealing items from the graves of a fallen trooper and others. Police were called to Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, after 55 year old Douglas Gooslin III and 43 year old Kristie Bentley were allegedly spotted taking items from graves. When a state trooper went to the home the two share, he reportedly found more than $2,000 worth of decorations that had been taken from the graves of fallen Trooper Johnathan Leonard, his mother Karen Leonard, and former UPike student-athlete Tyler Williams over a period of three years. During the thefts, some of the graves and cemetery property were damaged. Gooslin and Bentley were arrested and charged with felony counts of violating graves, desecration of venerated objects and theft, as well as a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.
