A man out of Pike County is now facing up to 20-years in prison, after a woman was shot in the leg.

Officers were called to a home at Stopover, following a neighbor’s report of hearing gunshots and screaming from a house across the street. They also received a call from the victim, who they met with at a Phelps gas station, where she was waiting on an ambulance.

While police interviewed the woman, she had a gunshot wound in her right leg as well as a large cut on her arm. She informed police that 52-year-old Eddie Dean Ferrell had come home and began hitting her and accusing her of stealing. She then said he went into the garage and grabbed a gun, which he fired at her and others several times.

The officer then went to the home and spoke with Ferrell, who admitted to shooting his gun several times. Ferrell was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and wanton endangerment, as well as possession of meth, after police discovered drugs in his pockets while arresting him.

He is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
