Johnson Central Head Football Coach Passes After Battling COVID-19

The long-time head coach of the Johnson Central Football Team, Jim Matney, passed away on Tuesday following recent struggles with COVID-19.

 

Matney had been head coach of the Johnson Central Football Team since 2004. He also led two of his teams to state-title wins in 2016 and 2019. He amassed an impressive 184-36 record during his time at Johnson Central.

 

Matney also coached at Sheldon Clark from 1984-2003.
