Troopers with the Kentucky State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the Pine Top Community on Monday.

 

According to officers, a 1989 GMC pickup went off of the road on KY 582, striking several trees before coming to a stop in an embankment.

 

The passenger of the vehicle, Portia Calhoun, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Knott County Coroner’s Office. The driver, Donald Mullins, was airlifted from the scene of the accident to UK Medical Center. He died as a result of his injuries on Tuesday. Neither person is said to have been wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.

 

This incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
