Murder fugitive from Tennessee arrested in Ashland

Authorities in Tennessee have apprehended a man for murder in Ashland, Kentucky, and he has been lodged into the Boyd County Detention Center. Bradley Miller, 43, was detained Monday evening, according to Kentucky State Police Trooper Shane Goodall. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Miller is facing first-degree murder charges in Tennessee in connection with the death of his girlfriend.

Athena Saunders, 48, was discovered dead near the Unaka Mountain Beauty Spot.

According to KSP, a sergeant received information from TBI Monday night that Miller’s phone was pinged around the Ironton, Ohio and Ashland, Kentucky locations. Miller was later seen walking down Winchester Avenue near the Ashland Inn by law enforcement.  Miller’s attempt to disguise his face brought even more attention to himself. He was apprehended without incident, according to troopers.

Miller is facing charges in Tennessee for first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. He is currently being jailed on a warrant out of Tennessee awaiting extradition.
