Knox County Man Arrested After Allegedly Throwing Woman From Moving Vehicle

An update from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department:

 

On Saturday March 11, 2023, Knox County Deputies Jesse Smith and Sgt. Bobby Jones responded to a report of a female being thrown from a moving vehicle on KY 225 in Artemus.  When the deputies arrived at the scene, they observed a female lying in the roadway. 

 

The woman told the deputies that her boyfriend, 34-year-old Brandon Murphy of Barbourville, had pushed her out of the vehicle while they were traveling at 35 to 40 mph. The victim suffered a serious head injury along with numerous abrasions and cuts on different areas of her body. She was taken to Barbourville ARH and later to UK Medical Center in Lexington.

 

Murphy was later located at his residence on KY 225 in Artemus, arrested, and charged with Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree, Assault-1st Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Menacing, and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
