Magoffin County Church Group Consecrate New Church

In Magoffin County, parishioners gathered yesterday to consecrate the newly rebuilt Catholic Church that replaces the St. Luke Catholic Church that was destroyed in the 2012 tornado outbreaks of Eastern Kentucky. On March 2nd, 2012, the outbreak killed 24 people in the state and the damage to property was in the millions. Those who attended said they are happy to have a church again but also did not miss a service in the meantime. Father Bob Damron said the church members still met on the property site despite the building no longer being there. Officials with the church also said plans are in order to rebuild the Priest House that was destroyed in the tornado as well.
