In Pike County, the friends and family of a 23 year old girl who was killed in a car accident on Monday, gathered yesterday to remember her.  Joy Varney was killed on Caney Creek Road when her car left the roadway and struck a tree.  She was taken to Pikeville Medical Center and later doed of her injuries.  Carney was well liked by her peers and in 2010, was voted class clown at Pike Central High School.

She also worked in central scheduling at Pikeville Medical Center and leaved her parents, four siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Varney’s funeral was scheduled to begin today at 1pm at Lucas and Son Funeral Home.  She will be buried at Annie E. Young Cemetery.
