A Letcher County woman is facing assault and wanton endangerment charges. 27 year old Regina Yates, of Whitesburg, was taken into police custody yesterday after she allegedly stabbed her husband, Stacy Yates.

Police originally thought that Mrs. Yates was acting in self defense, but Chief Tyrone Fields of the Whitesburg police department said after interviewing the two, his department changed their focus. Mrs. Yates had a history of abusive behavior, including another stabbing incident in 2014.
