Officials are reporting that one person is dead and several others are unaccounted for in the Flat Gap community after yesterday’s torrential rains. Rescue teams were called in from around the region, after streams began to crest their banks and wash away people and property in their path. Tim Clark, who is with the sheriff’s department, voiced his concern that emergency vehicles may have trouble getting access to the flooded area.
Disasters continue to wrack Johnson County, as rising waters begin to seep into homes in the Wittensville area. As of now, route 172 is inaccessible due to the flooding. Our thoughts go out to those who are affected and their loved ones.
