For the first time in history, natural gas is the leading provider of electrical power in the United States. According to a report for the S-N-L energy company 31 percent of U.S. power was provided by natural gas, compared to only 30 percent being fired with coal. On the heels of the 2008 drilling boom the United States is the world’s producer of natural gas and oil.
