Appalachian Region acquiring funds for dental students

A new program could encourage Appalachians who study to become dentist to stay in the region.

Governor Steve Beshear and Congressman Hal Rodgers announced that the Shaping our Appalachian Region initiative is acquiring funds to forgive 2 to 5 dental students of their student debt if they sign an agreement to work in Eastern Kentucky for two years.

The applicants will also have to agree to take Medicaid and work on children.
