After weeks of anticipation, the people of Johnson County received the news they have been waiting for. Yesterday President Barak Obama signed the paperwork to declare the areas destroyed by torrential flooding a disaster area, releasing FEMA aid to the victims. According to Johnson County treasurer Mike Howell, his office has been holding back donations in a strategic reserve, and he said they will begin distributing it after FEMA has provided what assistance they can.
