Commission calls for controversial statue to be removed
Another group is calling for the statue of a controversial Kentuckian to be removed. The Kentucky Human Rights Commission has petitioned lawmakers to remove the statue of Jefferson Davis from the Capital building. The members of the commission are asking that Davis’ statue be moved to the capital education center or the Kentucky History Center. The board also requested that references to slavery be removed from the Kentucky constitution, and that the contributions of women need to be included into the collection of plaques, statues and murals.
