In this week’s “Chalk Talk,” former Wildcat quarterback Freddie Maggard sits down with Lauren Cash to discuss what he thinks Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops is concentrating on with the Louisiana-Lafayette game approaching.

“I took from it that Coach Stoops is expecting Elijah Maguire from LaFayette to be the real deal, and a focus of DJ Eliot’s defense will be to stop him or slow him down,” Maggard said Monday. “My take is, Kentucky has to score often and early to take the ball away from Maguire and force LaFayette to pass to catch up with a new quarterback. That’s how Kentucky can put away at the end of this game. Also, Stoops talked about the increase at talent in two positions, wide receiver and cornerback. Both were lacking very much so when he arrived. Right now, at wide receiver the 8 to 12 that will play on Saturday is the best group collectively of talent that i’ve seen in my 40 years of following at UK.”
