Data is showing that more Kentucky students are taking advanced placement tests. The state department of Education reported that over 31-thousand students took advanced placement tests in 2015, which is a 35 percent raise from 4 years ago. Additionally the statistics show that the number of students with qualifying scores has increased by 40 percent. Interim Education Commissioners Kevin Brown attributes this to the Advance Kentucky initiative, which advocates for advanced focus on math and science.
