Massey CEO asks for trial to be moved

A former Coal corporation CEO fears he cannot get a fair trial in West Virginia’s southern coal fields. Don Blankenship was the CEO of Massey Energy in 2010, when an explosion killed 29 miners. An investigation alleged that the safety violations which led to the deaths were flagrantly disregarded by Blankenship. Now he and his legal team are petitioning to have his trial moved north to Martinsburg or out of state and into Maryland. Blankenship’s defense claims that the area has been saturated with negative ads, and he feels like he cannot receive a fair trial.
