Running for a cause

On Saturday runners will take to the streets of Prestonsburg, and go 5k for a good cause. The Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats will be hosting their first Cerebral Palsy 5K glow run. The money from this event will go to aid research, but for one girl on the team it has a deeper meaning. Nichole Burchett and her mother Kim have worked hard in the organization of this event because Nichole’s younger sister Livia was born with Cerebral Palsy. While none of the money from the run will be going to the Burchett family, in an interview with the Floyd County Chronicle they hoped that it would help raise awareness and lead to an eventual cure.
