Even though the water has receded in Johnson County, survivors could face a new threat. Individuals have tried to prey upon these victims, by claiming to represent government entities, or charitable bodies. In a Press release FEMA reminds anyone who has been approached and asked for money in return for services that federal workers cannot ask for, or accept money. Always ask to see identification, since they are required to carry photo identification with them. Those who suspect fraud can call the FEMA Disaster Fraud Hotline at 866-720-5721 (toll free).
