Officials are still trying to cobble together a jury in a high profile mining death case. Former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship stands accused of allegedly ignoring safely violations that led to the deaths of 29 miners in West Virginia. Judge Irene Berger is looking for 35 perspective jurors, which can be narrowed down to 12 with a couple of alternatives. As of yesterday 13 perspective jurors were excused from service. Blankenship’s legal team has stated that they do not believe that he can get a fair trial in the region because it has been peppered with negative ads against him.
