Officials visit the parkway expansion site

Officials visited the Mountain Parkway expansion site, and were happy to say that it is on schedule. Governor Steve Beshear and Congressman Hal Rogers made the trip to Magoffin County to witness crews diligently working on the 7 mile long project. Marshall Carrier is the project manager and he believes that if his crew is able to stay on schedule then eastbound traffic will be transferred to the new road bed by Thanksgiving. Beshear has lauded the parkway expansion as a means of bringing more work into the region and a way to offer safer travel across the Commonwealth. The next phase of the construction will go through a section of Salyersville dubbed the restaurant row, and it is expected to begin next summer.
