Two candidates found themselves ensnared in the Kim Davis controversy

Last night Democrat Andy Beshear and Republican Whitney Westerfield appeared on KET to talk about their bids for Kentucky’s Attorney General Office. When pressed on the matter Westerfield said that Governor Steve Beshear should issue an executive order, exempting clerks who have a moral objection to issuing licenses to same sex couples, or call a special session of the legislature to take up the issue. Beshear countered that a governor cannot change law by executive order, and held that a special session would waste tax payer money.
