Community works to resurrect a fire department

A Breathitt County community is welcoming back its own fire department. The Watts Volunteer Fire Department has been closed for 6 months, but the community is working towards changing that with the help of volunteers and a donation from the fiscal court. Fire Chief Tim Osborne hopes to have the department responding to calls by November 1st. The community decided to invest in the firehouse due to slow response times from surrounding departments, and the increase in insurance premiums. There will be a community meeting on the 24th at 10 am, where they will be accepting applications for potential fire fighters.
