Edelen vows to continue crusade against corruption

During that same stop State Auditor Adam Edelen, who is running for re-election spoke of how his office has diligently worked toward fighting corruption in Kentucky. According to Edelen his office has pushed initiatives to tackle the backlog of untested rape kits, and his aggressive stance towards corruption in the states school system. According to Edelen the school systems had not been put through the same scrutiny other government office had, even though they have larger budgets. Edelen highlighted this point by talking about cases in Breathitt County and Northern Kentucky *audio* You may remember in Northern Kentucky there is a school district with fewer than one thousand kids, ninety percent of these kids are eligible for free and reduced lunch, and I caught the former school superintendent, having stolen half a million dollars out of that district. At the same time he was enriching himself in the back room forty to fifty thousand dollars a quarter he was sending email to athletic and academic team coaches saying that the kids were too poor travel and compete.
