Two former corrections officers are facing charges in an inmate’s death. 38 year old Damon Hickman and 59 year old William Howell are accused of reckless indifference in the death of the inmate Larry Trent. The pair are alleged to have used excessive force in detaining Trent causing him bodily harm, and refusing him medical aid while serving as deputy jailers. Hickman is also accused to tampering with evidence, by falsifying information to cover his involvement. Both men were indicted on Monday and could serve a maximum of life in prison if convicted, and Hickman could face an additional 20 years for tampering.
