A local educator has received a prestigious award. Dr. Bill Loftus has taught psychology at Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s Prestonsburg campus for 26 years. In October Loftus was introduced into the University of Pikeville’s Distinguished Educators Hall of Fame. Dr. Loftus had a record of distinction, in 2013 he received the ACORN Award for Faculty Excellence, spent 20 years leading the Phi Theta Kappa honors society at BSCTC, was recognized with the International Hallmark Distinguished Adviser award, holds three Kentucky Regional Adviser of the Year Awards, seven Horizon awards, and the prestigious Mosal award.
