49 year old Monroe Jackson of Pikeville has admitted to the police that he lied about being an army officer, and how he was going to use the money he raised. Jackson is alleged to have impersonated an officer of the United States Navy, and informed people that he was raising money for the homeless veteran’s shelter in Shelby Valley. In an interview with WSAZ Jackson admitted to spending some of the money on gas and making repairs to his vehicle, but he insists that he gave the rest of the money to individual veterans. He has refused to give the names of these veterans, since he doesn’t want to betray their privacy. Jackson is due back in court on December the 1st.
