Kentucky’s governor elect has joined several other governors in opposition to accepting Syrian refugees. With millions of people fleeing the war torn country of Syria and Europe struggling to deal with a flood of immigrants, the United States has agreed to take 10-thousand Syrian refugees. As of 3:00 pm last night 24 governors had said they opposed bringing refugees into their states. Kentucky’s governor elect Matt Bevin has joined their ranks, saying that he opposes it until he has a better understanding of the risk to his citizens. According to the Refugee Act of 1980, the states do not have the authority to decline refugees.
