A local university will open the first school of optometry in the state of Kentucky. UPike has worked diligently to finish the new Optometry School building along Hambley Boulevard. The building in progressing well, BUT the faculty is really celebrating receiving preliminary approval for their accreditation. This means that the university can begin recruiting their first class of students. Officials believe that the building will be complete by December 2016, and the first class of Optometry Students will be on campus in August.
