Prestonsburg Police Sergeant Adam Dixon narrowly escaped death in the line of duty, when a bullet fired by William Powers grazed his button and hit his sternum. In an interview with WKYT Dixon spoke of his trip to the hospital, and how the people around him joked and laughed to keep him calm. Dixon highlighted a fault in our legal system which allows repeat offenders like Powers, who has been arrested on several occasions, to avoid serious jail time. But Dixon finished by expressing his gratitude to his community, and his brothers and sisters in blue. He said he in anxious to get back on the job. I think I speak for everyone here at the station and in our community when I say we are eternally grateful for his service, and all of our officers and emergency responders.
