SOAR seeks to end youth exodus from the region

Members of the S.O.A.R initiative met yesterday to discover ways to keep youths in the region. Since the bottom fell out of the coal industry Eastern Kentucky has been looking for a way to stop the economic free fall. One of the hardest hit demographics has been the younger generation, which is leaving the area to find work. According to WYMT officials hope that the new Kentucky Wired project, which is projected to create jobs by flooding the region with lower cost broad band internet, will ebb the flow of these ‘millennials’ out of the region.
