Dozens of children signed up for free books this Thursday

The event took place at the Floyd County Public Library and is part of the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program initiated by former First Lady Jane Beshear and the Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative. The program sends children one free book each month until the age of five. In a quote to WYMT, Willa Johnson, the head of KVEC stated, “Learning really starts before Kindergarten, it starts at birth so we really want people to have access to as much, [and] as many tools as possible.” Officials from KVEC made two other visits to libraries in the county and hope to launch programs in other counties in the near future.
