A large group protested in Paintsville yesterday. The group of around 100 religious protesters rallied to voice their discontent over their school boards stance on holiday plays. The board decided to make the plays more secular after it received a complaint from within the district over the use of religious text in one of the plays. In a statement, Superintendent Tom Salyer assured the gathered crowd that there would still be programs at the schools but they would have to follow federal law. As the day went along about 2 dozen protesters remained to hold signs and wave at cars.
