Another Coal Corporation is filing for Bankruptcy

Arch coal filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy yesterday in St. Louis. The company has several mining operations around the region, and has maintained a positive disposition toward the legal action. In a media statement Arch said it did not think there would be any layoffs, and it would be able to continue paying its workers wages and benefits, since it had taken steps to strengthen its asset after the downturn. The corporation has reached an agreement with the majority of its lenders, and it is waiting for approval from the bankruptcy court.
